$950,000 for projects in 2021

Each year, your donations help Fondation Santé fund numerous projects for different departments of Hôpital du Haut-Richelieu as well as for many others institutions operating in the Haut-Richelieu, Rouville and Bassin de Chambly area.

Take a look at how you are helping to provide the best care to patients, close to home and in an optimal environment. Our projects for the current year represent a total commitment of $950,000.

$100,000 for the six CHSLDs in the region

In 2021, Fondation Santé is allocating $100,000 to fund projects in the region’s six residential and long-term care centres. The funds will be invested in projects to improve the quality of life for the elderly. Now more than ever, they need our support. Even the smallest gift can make a difference in their daily lives!

Using nature to forge interpersonal bonds

Two adventure-therapy programs to break isolation and experience tangible success

Horizon Program

Fondation Santé is proud to fund the Horizon program, which offers 12 young people aged 13 to 18, supervised by youth workers, the opportunity to enjoy a five-day camp experience where they can develop skills that will help them function better on a daily basis. The outing is also beneficial for caseworkers, as it gives them a tool to overcome their feelings of powerlessness when faced with more difficult situations, and thus glean more satisfaction from their work.

“It shows you who you really are. I liked the discussions at night around the campfire. Those were pretty much my favourite times.” — Maxime

“It helped me with teamwork. I learned how to be in a group of people, even if I didn’t like it.” — Yohan

“It really helped me with my social anxiety. Things are better now. It was all in my head.” — Billy

The First Psychotic Episode program

Fondation Santé is also proud to provide financial support through wilderness therapy for 10 young adults enrolled the First Psychotic Episode program and being followed for mental health. During a three-night camping trip with the organization Face aux vents, participants will acquire more self-confidence and greater autonomy, which will help improve their ability to live in the greater community. After a first outing in 2016 and a second in 2019, the impacts and benefits of wilderness therapy for young people are clear.

Numerous other projects for patient wellbeing

Having modern and customized equipment is a critical part of delivering quality care, facilitating the jobs of healthcare workers, and providing treatments that make human health the top priority. For all those reasons, the acquisition of equipment is a key aspect of the foundation’s investments each year.
In 2021, the following equipment will be acquired through our fundraising campaign:

  • A warming cabinet that heats blankets for the comfort and pain relief of elderly patients.

  • Two chair scales to weigh patients with mobility issues; it makes the task more comfortable for users and more efficient for staffers.

  • An electrocardiogram machine so that health professionals can act more rapidly during a cardiac episode and thus provide the patient with the best care in a timely fashion.

  • A flexible video cystoscope and colonoscope for the endoscopy department, to improve accessibility and reduce the waiting list for cystoscopies and colonoscopies.

  • For the palliative care unit, six mini refrigerators for use by end-of-life patients and their loved ones who wish to have meals in the comfort of a warm and welcoming environment.

  • An X-ray machine for the medical imaging department, to reduce wait times in the operating room by ensuring that all damaged tissue has been removed during a biopsy.

  • Equipment for greater efficiency in the physical rehabilitation facilities.

  • A portable ultrasound device for the birthing unit, to eliminate consulting delays and improve the care provided to patients in labour.

  • A fiberscope that reduces waiting time for emergency room patients.

  • Funds will also be allocated to home support for vulnerable clients, to give staff access to specialized equipment, and for last-resort financial assistance.
